Lima
Gastronomic Capital of Latin America
Why Visit Lima
Lima is a metropolis of 11 million inhabitants that combines an impressive pre-Columbian historical legacy with a gastronomic scene that has placed Peru on the world culinary map. The Historic Center, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to the Cathedral, the Convent of San Francisco with its catacombs, and the Government Palace.
Miraflores and Barranco are Lima's most cosmopolitan districts. Miraflores offers cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Parque Kennedy and the city's best concentration of restaurants. Barranco, the bohemian neighborhood, is where you find art galleries, Lima's nightlife scene and the famous Bridge of Sighs.
Lima's gastronomy is reason enough to visit the city. Central (the world's best restaurant in 2023), Maido (world top 5), Astrid y Gastón and La Mar are just four of the dozens of exceptional gastronomic offerings. The Larco Museum with 5,000 years of pre-Inca history, and MALI (Lima Art Museum) complete the cultural offer of a city that leaves no one indifferent.
